WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Exfoliation & Vellus Hair Removal

Dermaplaning is an exfoliation treatment, performed by a professional, using a surgical scalpel to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair - otherwise known as 'peach fuzz'.

A buildup of dead skin cells cause the skin to look dull, fine lines and wrinkles to appear deeper than they are and can even contribute to dryness and breakouts. By dermaplaning the skin regularly (we recommend approximately one treatment per month),  serums and moisturizers are able to properly penetrate the epidermis after the waterproof layer of dead skin cells are removed with the scalpel.

Your makeup will never glide on as smoothly as it does on freshly dermaplaned skin! All of that peach fuzz is removed during the treatment making the skin unbelievably soft and silky.

DERMAPLANING FAQ

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU RECEIVE DERMAPLANING TREATMENTS?

Approximately once a month

This is completely dependent on the sensitivity of your skin as well as how much and how quickly the vellus hair grows in on your skin. Once a month typically works well for most people. Too much dermaplaning could cause over exfoliation on the skin resulting in irritation.

DOES THE FACIAL HAIR GROW BACK THICKER AFTER DERMAPLANING?

100% No!

The hair on the face is called vellus hair, otherwise known as peach fuzz. Unlike hair on other areas of the body, it does not grow back thicker and with more hair. It will grow back the same way it did pre-treatment.

WHO IS DERMAPLANING RECOMMENDED FOR?

Most people, but not those with highly reactive skin

The majority of people, including both women and men, can benefit from receiving dermaplaning treatments regularly. However, certain skin types like those with highly sensitive skin, rosacea, inflamed acne and keratosis pilaris need to be very careful. In some cases the treatment can still be performed and may even benefit these skin types. Please contact us directly for a consultation prior to booking.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME AFTERWARDS?

Little to none!

For most people, dermaplaning requires no downtime. The skin will look instantly brighter and feel baby soft and smooth post treatment. Those with sensitive skin may expect to see some redness from the friction of the scalpel sliding across the skin but this should subside by the next day.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIY FACE SHAVING AT HOME AND DERMAPLANING?

Exfoliation benefits

At home face shaving will certainly help to rid the face of some unwanted peach fuzz however, only the dermaplaning process using the surgical scalpel can properly exfoliate the buildup of dull dead skin cells. For ultra fresh, smooth and glowing skin dermaplaning is your go to treatment!

WILL MY SKIN BE MORE PRONE TO SUN BURN AFTER?

It's possible, so definitely use sunscreen everyday!

A broad spectrum spf is highly recommended post treatment and for all other days as well. Sunscreen is your number one anti-aging product so take it seriously and use a high quality spf every single day!
